Consent to carry out exploration drilling with Aker Barents in well 7228/1-1

Norwegian Energy Company AS has received consent to carry out exploration drilling in the Barents Sea with the Aker Barents mobile facility.

The consent relates to the drilling of exploration well 7228/1-1 which is part of production licence 396 andNorwegian Energy Company ASA is the operator.

The planned position of the well is:
N 72o 51' 0.89"E 28o 18' 56.28". Water depth at the site is 350 metres.

The operation is scheduled to start on 1 March 2012 and has an estimated duration of approx. 30 days.


Aker Barents

Aker Barents is a so-called 6th generation semi-submersible drilling facility constructed pursuant to the H-6e concept for drilling operations at water depths of up to 3000 metres and in Arctic regions.

The facility was delivered as a new construction during the summer of 2009, built by Aker Solutions at the Stord shipyard in Norway.

Aker Barents received the PSA’s Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) on 10 July 2009.
