Audit of control room functions at Valhall PH

On 19 and 20 April 2016, the PSA carried out an audit of BP and control functions at Valhall PH.

On 17 November 2011, BP received consent to use the Valhall onshore control room and associated systems to operate wells on the Valhall field, including Flanke Sør, Flanke Nord and Hod. From early November 2015, the wells have been controlled from a central control room on Valhall PH. In connection with this change, personnel in the control room were assigned new duties and responsibilities.

The objective of the audit was to monitor that BP's planning, execution and follow-up of the change process is in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Result
Two non-conformities were identified in connection with decision support and decision criteria, and with performance requirements.

In addition, an improvement point was identified in connection with planning.

BP has been given a deadline of 1 September 2016 to report on how the non-conformities and improvement point will be dealt with.

Non-conformity:
Entails that a condition is assessed as not complying with a regulatory requirement.

Improvement point:
Entails that we have identified a deficiency or weakness, without there being sufficient grounds for determining a breach of regulatory requirements.
