Audit of design engineering of Cat J drilling facilities

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has carried out an audit of Statoil's design engineering of Cat J drilling facilities.

The basis of the audit was the main priorities Barriers and groups at particular risk. The audit's themes concerned occupational health and safety, drilling and well activities, materials handling and emergency preparedness.

No non-conformities were detected during this audit.

Improvement points were identified in connection with:

  • Performance of OHAS studies
  • Noise
  • Completion of crane studies
  • Access for maintenance of offshore cranes
  • Emergency operation of personnel winches
  • Lifeboat stations
  • Emergency preparedness analysis
  • Evacuation

Entails that a condition is assessed as not complying with a regulatory requirement.

Improvement point:
Entails that we have identified a deficiency, without there being sufficient grounds for determining a breach of regulatory requirements.
