Audit of emergency preparedness and helideck at Gyda

We have carried out an audit of how Repsol is meeting the regulatory requirements for emergency preparedness and the helideck at the Gyda facility.

Repsol Norge AS (Repsol) is the operator of Gyda, at oilfield in the North Sea between Ekofisk and Ula. The field has been developed using a drilling, production and accommodation facility with a steel jacket. Water depth at the site is 66 metres.

From 30 January to 1 February 2017, we carried out an audit of emergency preparedness and the helicopter deck at the Gyda facility. The Civil Aviation Authority - Norway provided specialist assistance for the part of the audit concerning the helideck. The result of this assistance is available in a separate report.

No regulatory non-conformities were identified during the audit.

However, improvement points were detected relating to:

  • Evacuation routes
  • Maintenance of safety equipment
  • Handling of hazard and accident situations at one of the cranes
  • System for training and drills

Repsol has been asked to respond by 7 April 2017 concerning how the improvement points will be assessed.
