Audit of emergency preparedness - Knarr FPSO

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) conducted an audit of Teekay Petroljarl's (TKPJ) planning and establishment of emergency preparedness for Knarr FPSO on 29 May 2012. The audit was conducted at TKPJ's premises in Trondheim.

Background
As part of the development of the Knarr field outside western Norway, BG Norge has awarded TKPJ a contract for construction and operation of a floating production facility (FPSO).

TKPJ will own and operate the facility. This entails that the company must apply to the PSA for an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) for this facility, as it will be registered in a national ship's register.

The audit is related to the future application for AoC, and is directed entirely towards TKPJ.

Objective
The objective of the audit was to ensure that TKPJ, in the construction of the FPSO, complies with the regulatory requirements in terms of planning and establishment of emergency preparedness. The company's own governing documents and studies/analyses were used a basis for the verifications.

Result
No observations were made at this early project stage which could be characterised as nonconformities.
