Audit of Esso - Slagentangen

During a planned shutdown in 2012, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) conducted an audit of Esso's management of the working environment conditions for the company's and contractors' employees at Slagentangen.

The purpose of the audit was to evaluate how Esso plans and executes a planned shutdown focusing on groups that can be particularly exposed to risk.

The audit focused on employee participation, follow-up of working hours, how risk factors for personnel who work during the shutdown were handled, as well as working conditions for both employees and hired employees in contracting companies.

No nonconformities were identified.

One improvement item was identified relating to the understanding of roles and expertise in the safety delegate service.
