Audit of ExxonMobil

In the period 5-21 March 2013, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) conducted an audit of the work of ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Norway AS (EM) to ensure compliance with the requirements in the petroleum regulations of the personnel responsible for electrical installations, operation of electrical installations and safety instrumented systems on Balder.


Objective
The objective of the activity was to verify that relevant regulatory provisions were being met.

Results
Non-conformities were identified in connection with:

  • barriers to gas penetration in air intakes
  • updating of technical operations documentation
  • temporary equipment
  • portable electric fan heaters

In addition, improvement points were identified in connection with:

  • personnel responsible for electrical installations
  • identification and reporting of safety-critical faults
  • electrical distribution panels
  • operational procedures
