Audit of Gassco’s follow-up of onshore pipelines

On 12 October 2011, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) carried out an audit of Gassco’s follow-up of onshore pipelines. The audit was primarily directed at the work carried out on pipelines in Northern Rogaland.

The objective of the audit was to follow up how Gassco safeguards its responsibility to follow up safety for onshore pipelines.

The audit activity had several topics:

  • Organisation
  • Statutes and regulations
  • Implemented risk assessments and analyses
  • Maintenance program – condition control - inspection
  • Expertise and capacity
  • Interaction with local authorities
  • Emergency preparedness and exercises

Extensive work is being carried out to follow up onshore pipelines in Northern Rogaland, and good communication lines to relevant municipalities in the area have been established.

No nonconformities were identified.

Two improvement items were identified in relation to:

  • Follow-up of area assessments
  • Follow-up plan for pipelines
