Audit of Grane

We have carried out an audit of electrical installations and technical safety at Grane.

Statoil is the operator of Grane, an oilfield in the North Sea, approx. 185 kilometres west of Haugesund. The field has been developed using an integrated production, drilling and accommodation facility with a fixed steel jacket. Water depth at the facility is 127 metres. The oil is piped to the Sture terminal for onward transport by tanker. Production on the field began in 2003.

From 6 to 10 February 2017 we conducted an audit of electrical installations and technical safety at the Grane facility. The object of the audit was to monitor how Statoil is meeting its regulatory obligations in these areas.

The audit detected non-conformities in connection with:

  • Electrical installations – technical performance and condition
  • Work in and operation of electrical installations
  • Emergency power system
  • Transient voltage variations
  • Emergency lighting
  • The fire water system
  • Non-conformity handling

In addition, improvement points were detected in connection with:

  • Notification of hazard and accident situations
  • Use of the emergency generator
  • Safety equipment in switchrooms
  • First aid in the event of electrical injury

Statoil been given a deadline of 24 March 2017 to report on how the non-conformities will be dealt with and how the improvement points will be assessed.
