Audit of maintenance management at Mongstad

From 4-7 October 2011, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) performed an audit of the maintenance management at Statoil Mongstad.

The objective was to audit regulatory compliance, that facilities or parts thereof are maintained so that they can perform their intended functions in all stages of their design life.

The audit aimed to clarify the combination of technical, administrative and management-related measures to ensure this, and included areas such as:

  • Status as regards preventive and corrective maintenance (PM and CM), including backlog and pending maintenance.
  • Impact assessment of backlog and pending maintenance, individually and as a whole.
  • Method for prioritisation of backlog and pending maintenance, actions based on impact assessments.

The results are based on presentations of elements in Statoil's management system and conversations with selected personnel, maintenance managers and persons responsible for maintenance in IOS and the local process manager for maintenance. In addition, verifications were performed.

During the audit, nonconformities were identified in connection with:

  • Performance parameters and indicators
  • Follow-up of systems and equipment
  • Classification of systems and equipment
  • Maintenance programme
  • Handling of nonconformities
