Audit of Rowan Drilling Norway AS

During the period 23-25 January 2013, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) carried out an audit of Rowan Drilling Norway AS’ (Rowan’s) work on identifying and following up groups potentially exposed to risk.

The chosen risk-exposed groups were the shaker room operator/mud engineer and catering.

The objective of the activity was to verity that Rowan has established functioning management of working environment risk at Rowan Stavanger. The management system will ensure that risks for various employee groups are identified, mapped and followed up to ensure that the facility’s working environment and personnel safety are fully prudent. The significance of potential negative consequences of framework conditions was also assessed.

The audit also looked at how Rowan followed up the working environment nonconformities identified prior to the Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC).

Nonconformities were identified in connection with:

  • Mapping and risk assessment
  • Measures to reduce working environment risk
  • Formalisation and documentation

Furthermore, improvement items were identified in connection with information regarding chemical health hazard.
