Audit of Statoil – Kårstø

From 19 to 21 March 2014, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) performed a major accident audit at Kårstø.

The objective of the audit was to verify that Statoil is catering for the requirements in the regulations relating to technical safety and safe operations.

One non-conformity was identified in connection with pressure relief.

In addition, improvement points were identified in connection with:

  • Improvement of technical weaknesses
  • Fire load in the process area
  • Documentation
  • Flare overloading
  • Pressure relief valves
  • Total Risk Analysis (TRA)
