Audit of Statoil – Mongstad

Between 28 and 30 January 2014, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) carried out an audit of Mongstad focused on the discipline of technical safety.


Objective
The objective of the activity was to verify that Statoil was catering for the requirements set out by the company and in statutory provisions.

Result
No non-conformities were identified.

Improvement points were identified in connection with:

  • overpressure protection
  • gas detection system
  • depressurisation and potential for isolating the LPG installation
  • fire monitors in the LPG installation
  • fire protection
  • ESD valves
  • performance requirements of barriers
  • a number of less serious observations linked to water leaks, frozen emergency shower and missing markings,among other things
  • primary barriers for the sulphur facility
