Audit of Statoil – Njord A

On 14 and 15 January 2014, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) conducted at audit of Statoil in connection with the reanalyses of the hull and deck of Njord A.

The objective of the audit was to verify that the reanalysis of Njord A is being performed in compliance with applicable regulations, verify that the results are leading to measures, and that there is no unacceptable uncertainty linked to construction safety at Njord A.

The background to the audit was the discovery in 2012 of dents in the deck of Njord A. Statoil instigated investigations to discover the cause. In the summer of 2013, new calculations revealed major weaknesses in the strength of the deck.

No non-conformities were identified.

An improvement point was identified connected with non-conformity management.
