Audit of Statoil’s use of total risk analyses

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has carried out an audit of Statoil’s use of total risk analyses (TRA).

The objective of the audit was to ensure Statoil has established internal requirements and work processes that ensure compliance with the regulatory requirements for risk analyses, including safeguarding of requirements for following up assumptions, preconditions, restrictions and recommendations that emerge in these types of analyses.

Nonconformities were identified in relation to main safety functions.

Furthermore, improvement items were identified in relation to:

  • Expertise requirements
  • Updating the total risk analysis in the event of lifetime extensions
  • Highlighting preconditions from total risk analyses (TRA)
