Audit of Teekay – Petrojarl Knarr

We have carried out an audit of Teekay Petrojarl Production AS (Teekay) and its management of maintenance of Petrojarl Knarr.

Knarr is an oil field in the northern sector of the North Sea, around 50 kilometres north-east of Snorre. Knarr has been developed using a production and storage vessel (FPSO) and two subsea wells.

A/S Norske Shell (Shell) is the operator of the Knarr field, while Teekay owns and operates Petrojarl Knarr on behalf of the licensees. Petrojarl Knarr is a mobile production facility and has an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) from the PSA.

From 2 to 15 June 2017, we carried out an audit of Teekay, focused on the company's management of maintenance of Petrojarl Knarr. The object was to evaluate how Teekay is ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and its own requirements in respect of maintenance (including condition monitoring and inspection) of the facility.

The audit did not identify any regulatory non-conformities, but we did find three areas with potential for improvement. These are barriers, non-conformity handling and environmental risk reduction. We have asked Teekay to report to us by 15 September on how they assess these factors.
