Audit of Wintershall Norge AS – Brage

Between 21 May and 4 September 2015, the PSA carried out an audit of Wintershall's management of drilling and well activities at Brage.

Brage is an oil field situated east of the Oseberg field, in the northern part of the North Sea. Water depth in the area is 140 metres. Brage has been developed using a fixed, integrated production, drilling and accommodation facility with a steel jacket.

The objective of the audit was to verify that the operator, drilling contractor and well service companies are meeting statutory regulations and the company's internal requirements.

Non-conformities were identified in connection with:

  • Election of safety representatives
  • Chemical working environment
  • Maintenance
  • Emergency pumps

In addition, improvement points were identified in connection with:

  • Competence
  • OHAS management
  • Safe Job Analyses (SJA)
  • Training
  • Co-training of drilling personnel
  • Drilling programme and schedules
  • Well control
  • Technical solutions
  • Well integrity

Wintershall has been given a deadline of 25 January 2016 to report on how the non-conformities and improvement points will be dealt with.
