Audit – Veslefrikk A/B

During the period 4 – 8 March 2013, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) carried out an audit of Statoil Petroleum AS’ (Statoil’s) management of material handling, technical condition of lifting equipment and the company’s management of maintenance of lifting equipment on Veslefrikk A/B.


Objective
The objective of the activity was to assess the company’s management of material handling, technical condition of lifting equipment and lifting operations, as well as the company’s management of maintenance of lifting equipment on Veslefrikk A/B. Statoil’s established improvement measures within crane and lifts, with primary focus on the drilling area, were also verified.

Result
Nonconformities were identified in relation to

  • process for nonconformity handling and follow-up of compensating measures
  • technical condition offshore cranes
  • access to offshore crane
  • maintenance – offshore cranes
  • expertise for inspection of wire
  • forerunners offshore cranes
  • facilitating load handling when using offshore crane
  • MOB boat forerunner
  • tugger winch drill floor

Furthermore, improvement items were identified in connection with:

  • raft davit
  • working environment
  • wireline cranes
  • gangway to MOB boat
  • unsecured lifting equipment
  • escape chute
  • crane restriction map
