Aker BP receives consent for exploration drilling in the North Sea

Aker BP is the operator for production licence 203 and has received consent to drill exploration well 25/4-12 S and A in the North Sea.

The well is part of a prospect called Gekko, in block 25/4 in the Alvheim field.

Drilling will begin in mid-May 2018 and is estimated to last 26 days.

Water depth at the site is 121 metres.

The well is to be drilled by Deepsea Stavanger, which is a semi-submersible mobile drilling facility of the GVA 7500 type, built by Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co Ltd in South Korea. It is owned and operated by Odfjell Drilling. The facility is classified by DNV GL and registered in Singapore.

Deepsea Stavanger was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) by the PSA in April 2017.
