Consent for drilling using Island Innovator - Lundin

The PSA has given Lundin Norway AS (Lundin) consent to drill shallow gas pilot hole 16/1-U-8 using Island Innovator in production licence 338.

The consent covers the drilling of shallow gas pilot hole 16/1-U-8 using the Island Innovator mobile drilling facility on the Edvard Grieg field in the North Sea.

Water depth at the site is approx. 109 metres.

During drilling, Island Innovator will be positioned at:

  • 58°50' 33.70" N
  • 02°14' 53.38" E

The drilling activity will begin at the earliest in late October and is planned to last around four days.

The Edvard Grieg field and well 16/1-U-8 are part of production licence 338, for which Lundin is the operator. The other licensees in the production licence are Wintershall Norge and OMV Norge.

Island Innovator is a Global Maritime GM4000-WI design semi-submersible mobile drilling facility built in 2012 at Cosco (Zhoushan) Shipyard in China. The facility is owned by Maracc ASA and operated by Odfjell Drilling. Its flag state is Norway, and DNV is the classification society.
