Consent for exploration drilling using Island Innovator - well 7220/11-1

The PSA has granted Lundin Norway AS (Lundin) consent for exploration drilling using the Island Innovator mobile drilling facility in the Barents Sea.

The consent applies to drilling of exploration well 7220/11-1 in production licence 609 in the Barents Sea. The well is intended to investigate a prospect named "Alta".

The operation starts in the summer of 2014 and is estimated to last 57 days.

The rig's position during drilling:

  • 72° 03' 26.84'' N
  • 20° 32' 45.71'' E

Water depth at the site is 388 metres.

Island Innovator is a Global Maritime GM4000-WI design semi-submersible mobile drilling facility built in 2012 at Cosco (Zhoushan) Shipyard in China. The facility is owned by Maracc ASA and operated by Odfjell Drilling. Its flag state is Norway, and DNV is the classification society.
