Consent for exploration drilling using Mærsk Giant

Centrica energi has received consent to carry out exploration drilling of wells 8/10-5S and 8/10-6S in production licence 405 in the North Sea using the Mærsk Giant mobile drilling facility.


The facility's planned position is:

57° 03' 32.493" N
03° 06' 46.915" E

Well 8/10-6S:
57° 03' 09.920" N
03° 03' 42.119" E

Drilling is planned to begin in October 2013, with a duration of 228 days, depending on whether a discovery is made.

Mærsk Giant is a mobile drilling facility owned and operated by the A.P. Møller-Mærsk Group.

The facility was built in Japan by Hitachi and completed in 1986. Mærsk Giant can operate in water depths of up to 107 metres and accommodates 87 people.

The facility received Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in February 2002.
