Consent for Marathon to continue using the Alvheim FPSO on the Alvheim field with organisational changes

The operator for the Alvheim field, Marathon Petroleum Norge AS (Marathon), has been given consent to take over the operational activities so far pursued by Maersk Drilling Norway (Mærsk) on the Alvheim floating production, storage and offloading unit.

This change also involves a transfer of business from Mærsk to Marathon.

It is regarded as a significant amendment in relation to the consent to use the Alvheim FPSO (picture), which was issued in March 2008. This assumed that Mærsk would be responsible for operating the installation during the field’s production phase.

The consent is effective from 1 May 2010.
