Consent to carry out drilling with Transocean Barents – wellbore 16/1-U-7

Det norske Oljeselskap ASA (Det norske) has received consent to carry out drilling in the North Sea with the Transocean Barents mobile drilling facility.

The consent relates to the drilling of a shallow wellbore 16/1-U-7 on the Draupne discovery in production licence 001 B.

The planned position of the facility is:

  • 58° 55' 20.17" North
  • 2° 11' 53.25" East

Water depth at the site is 112 metres.

The expected drilling start-up is the second quarter of 2012 at the earliest. The duration of the activity has been calculated at approx. ten days.

Transocean Barents is a type H-6e, 6th generation semi-submersible drilling facility. The facility was built at the Aker Stord shipyard in Norway and was commissioned in 2009.

Transocean Barents is owned and operated by Transocean Norway, with offices in
Stavanger. The facility received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in 2009.
