Consent to carry out exploration drilling in block 25/6

Det norske oljeselskap ASA has received consent to carry out exploration drilling of well 25/6-4 in the North Sea with the Songa Delta mobile facility.

The well will be drilled in production licence 414, approx. 20 kilometres east of Frøy. Drilling of sidetrack 25/6-4 A could be relevant. Water depth at the site is approx. 114 metres.

The well will be permanently plugged and abandoned. The drilling will start in July 2011 and has an expected duration of 30 days (dry well).

The Songa Delta semi-submersible drilling facility is owned by Songa Offshore and operated by Odfjell Drilling.

Songa Delta is a third generation mobile drilling facility, type Ocean Ranger, commissioned at Rauma Repola in Finland in 1981. The facility has been modified several times and is registered in Norway with Det Norske Veritas (DNV) as the classification society.

Songa Delta received the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway’s Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in June 2009.
