Consent to conduct exploration drilling with Bredford Dolphin – well 15/12-22

Consent: Det norske oljeselskap (Det norske) has received consent to conduct exploration drilling in the southern North Sea with the mobile facility Bredford Dolphin.

The consent relates to drilling and testing of exploration well 15/12-22, which is part of production licence 337.

The well is located 215 km from Karmøy, about 15 km northeast of the Varg field.

The well has the following geographical coordinates:

N 58° 12' 12.246",  E 1° 59' 14.381". The water depth at the drilling location is 83 metres.

Drilling is expected to start in March 2010. The activity has an estimated duration of about 35 days if the well is dry and 87 days if a discovery is made, including drilling of a sidetrack, testing and logging.

Bredford Dolphin (source: Olsen Energy)

Bredford Dolphin (see photo) is a third generation semi-submersible drilling facility of the Aker H-3 type, built in 1976.

The facility is owned by Fred Olsen ASA and operated by Dolphin AS (Dolphin), with headquarters in Stavanger. Singapore is the flag state, and DNV is the classification society.

Bredford Dolphin received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) from the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway on 28 June 2007 (link).
