Consent to conduct exploration drilling with Ocean Vanguard - well 25/5-7

Total E&P Norge AS has received consent to conduct exploration drilling in the central part of the North Sea using the mobile facility Ocean Vanguard.

The consent relates to the drilling of well 25/5-7, situated about 22 km east of Heimdal (see location map), which is part of production licence 102 C.


The well has the following geographical coordinates:

N 59° 39' 43.27",  E 2° 34' 15.37". The water depth at the site is 118.5 metres.

The expected duration of the activity is 45 – 90 days, depending on the scope of testing and the possible drilling of a sidetrack.

The Ocean Vanguard (formerly West Vanguard) is a semi-submersible, third generation drilling facility of the Bingo 3000 type, built in 1982. It is operated by Diamond Offshore Drilling Netherlands B.V.

The facility is registered in the Marshall Islands, with Det Norske Veritas as classification society.

The Ocean Vanguard received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in July 2004 (link).
