Consent to conduct exploration drilling with Songa Delta – well 6406/3-8

Consent: Wintershall Norge ASA has been granted consent to conduct exploration drilling in the Norwegian Sea with the mobile facility Songa Delta.

Well 6406/3-8 is part of production licence 475BS and is located  approx. 50 kilometres southwest of Heidrun and 20 kilometres southeast of Åsgard (see map).

Location of the well

The well has the following geographical coordinates:

N 64° 56' 08.79",  E 6° 56' 35.39". The water depth at the site is approx. 300 metres.

Expected start-up of the drilling activity is in March 2010. The operation has an estimated duration of 48 to 60 days.

Songa Delta (formerly Deepsea Delta) is a third-generation mobile drilling facility of the type Ocean Ranger, commissioned at Rauma Repola (Finland) in 1981.

Songa Delta is owned by Songa Management AS and is operated by Odfjell Drilling AS in Bergen.

The facility received a new Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) due to the change of name in June 2009 (link).
