Consent to conduct exploration drilling with Transocean Leader – well 15/3-9

Consent: Statoil has received consent to conduct exploration drilling in the North Sea using the mobile facility Transocean Leader.

The consent relates to the drilling of exploration well 15/3-9, which is part of production licence 187. The well is located in the southern part of the North Sea, about 200 kilometres west of Karmøy and 12 kilometres north of Glitne.

The planned geographical position of the facility in connection with this drilling activity is:

N 58° 49' 14.0",  E 1° 46' 20.7". Water depth at the site is 108 metres.

The plan is to commence the drilling activity as soon as Transocean Leader has completed the drilling operation on Morvin for Statoil (link).

The earliest possible start-up is mid-February 2010. The drilling activity has an estimated duration of 122 days.

Transocean Leader

Transocean Leader is a semi-submersible mobile drilling facility owned and operated by Transocean Offshore Ltd. It was delivered in 1987 from Hyundai Heavy Industries in Korea.

The facility received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) on 16 December 2004 (link).
