Consent to drill exploration well 2/1-16 S

Talisman Energy Norge AS (Talisman) has received consent to drill exploration well 2/1-16 S with the Mærsk Giant mobile facility.


Talisman is the operator of production licence 299 in block 2/1 in the southern part of the North Sea. The consent relates to drilling of exploration well 2/1-16 S in a prospect called Frode.

The rig’s position during drilling will be:
• 56° 51' 01.72" N 
• 03° 18' 52.69" E

Water depth at the site is 67 metres.

The well will be drilled with the Mærsk Giant mobile drilling facility. The drilling operation is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2013. The duration could be up to 110 days, depending on whether a discovery is made.
 

 

Mærsk Giant is a jack-up mobile drilling facility owned and operated by the A.P. Møller-Mærsk Group.
The facility was built in Japan at Hitachi, completed in 1986. Mærsk Giant can operate in water depths of up to 107 metres and can accommodate 87 people.

The facility received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in February 2002.
