Consent to use Askepott

Statoil has received consent to use the Askepott mobile drilling facility to perform well activities at Oseberg Vestflanken 2

The Oseberg Vestflanken 2 consists of three oil and gas structures in the North Sea, about eight kilometers north of the Oseberg field centre.

The field will be developed with an unmanned wellhead platform. The wells will be remote-controlled from Oseberg field centre.

Wellhead platforms without living quarter, helideck and lifeboats is a new concept in Norway, but is in use on the Danish and Dutch continental shelves.

The consent given covers drilling, sidetrack drilling, plugging and well interventions at Oseberg Vestflanken 2.

Drilling is scheduled to begin in October/November 2017. The consent applies until November 2025.

Askepott is a jack-up drilling facility of the Cat J type. It is owned by production licence 053 (Oseberg), for which Statoil is the operator. The facility's drilling contractor is KCA Deutag Drilling Norge.

Askepott was built by Samsung in South Korea in 2017, is registered in Norway and classified by DNV GL.

It was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) by the PSA in November 2017.
