Consent to use of West Venture on Troll

The PSA has given its consent for Statoil Petroleum AS (Statoil) to use the mobile drilling facility West Venture for drilling and well activities on the Troll field.

The consent covers production drilling, drilling of delineation and observation wells, completion, well overhaul and intervention including coil tubing, plugback (P&A) and workover of wells on Troll Olje.

The consent is given for the period 1 July 2010 to 31 July 2015.

West Venture has been in operation at Troll Olje since March 2000.

West Venture (above) is a fifth-generation semi-submersible drilling installation of the Kværner Maritime KMAR CS-45 design.

The facility was built at the Hitachi Zosen shipyard in Japan and commissioned in 2000. It is equipped with dynamic positioning and two derricks.

West Venture is operated by Seadrill AS. The facility is registered in Norway and Det norske Veritas (DNV) is the classification society.

West Venture received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) from the PSA on 31 January 2004.
