Consent to use Transocean Barents on the Jette field

Det norske oljeselskap ASA (Det norske) has been granted consent to use the Transocean Barents mobile drilling facility to drill on the Jette field.

Jette is a oil and gas field in the southern part of the North Sea, 180 kilometres west of Haugesund. A Plan for Development and Operation (PDO) for Jette was approved in February 2012. The plan is to develop the field with a seabed facility tied in to the Jotun field.

Jette's planned production start is during the first quarter of 2013.

The consent covers production drilling and completion of Jette Sør 25/8-A-1 AH and Jette Nord 25/8-B-1 H, drilling of observation well 25/8 A 1 H and drilling of shallow gas pilot well 25/8-U-25.

The facility's planned position is:

  • 2° 22' 8.194'' East
  • 59° 24' 12.400'' North

The water depth at the site is 127 metres.

The drilling activities are expected to start during the second quarter of 2012. The duration is estimated at about 155 days.

Transocean Barents is a sixth-generation semi-submersible drilling facility of the H-6e type. The facility was built at the Aker Stord shipyard in Norway and was commissioned in 2009.

Transocean Barents is owned and operated by Transocean Norway, with head office in Stavanger. The facility received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in 2009.
