Consent to use Valhall QP and PCP beyond planned lifetime

Consent: BP Norge AS (BP) has received consent to use QP and PCP on Valhall beyond their design lifetime.

According to the Plan for Development and Operation (PDO), the lifetime for Valhall was set at 2007.

In August 2007, BP applied for consent to use the living quarters QP and production facility PCP beyond this lifetime.

This application related to operation of QP until 30 September 2010 and operation of PCP until 31 December 2010. The application was approved by the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) in December 2007.

According to the plan, a new, integrated process and living quarters facility (PH) was to replace QP and PCP in 2010.

Start-up of the new PH facility has been delayed due to challenges associated with delivery of the new living quarters module, as well as the scope of work in connection with change-over to the new process facility.

The PSA has granted BP consent to use QP until 1 September 2012 and PCP until 31 December 2011.
