Statoil given consent for change of use at Sleipner

Statoil Petroleum AS (Statoil) has been given consent for a change of use at Sleipner as a result of modifications relating to the connection of the Gudrun Field.

Gudrun is an oil and gas field that is under development in block 15/3, approx. 55km north of Sleipner. Production is planned to commence in 2014 and oil and gas will be transported through two pipelines to the Sleipner A facility for further processing and onward transport.

The scope of the modifications that must be carried out on the Sleipner A facility means that assumptions in the original safety assessments and analyses may be breached. As a result, Statoil, as operator at Sleipner, is required by law to apply for consent for a change of use.

Following a review of the documentation that Statoil prepared with regard to the safety aspects of the modifications, Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has given its consent for the change of use.
