Statoil receives consent to use Transocean Leader

Statoil has received consent to use Transocean Leader for production drilling, completion, well clean-up, and well testing on the Tyrihans field in production licence 091.

On 13 November 2012, Statoil received consent to use Transocean Leader on the Tyrihans field. Because the work took longer than estimated and the planned activity at Tyrihans is extending beyond the first estimated date, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has granted consent in response to a new application.

The consent applies to the well on the Tyrihans field as originally planned, but also includes well clean-up and well testing.

Tyrihans is in the Norwegian Sea, around 133 km from the nearest land, at Frøya in Sør-Trøndelag, and 29 km south-east of the Kristin field.

The Tyrihans field has been developed using subsea facilities and the well stream is processed at the Kristin facility.

The activities are planned to start in February 2014 and estimated to last 170 days.
