Wellesley receives consent for exploration drilling in the North Sea

We have given Wellesley Petroleum AS (Wellesley) consent for exploration drilling of well 35/12-7.

Wellesley is the operator for production licence 925. We have given the company consent to drill exploration well 35/12-7, which aims to investigate a prospect named Serin.

The well is in the North Sea and the drilling coordinates will be:

  • 61° 09' 0.6457'' N
  • 03° 40' 5.7120'' E

Drilling is planned to begin in June 2018, with a duration of around 26 days, depending on whether a discovery is made.

The well is to be drilled by Transocean Arctic, which is a semi-submersible mobile drilling facility of the Marosso 56 type, built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Japan in 1987. It is classified by DNV GL and registered in the Marshall Islands.

The facility is operated by Transocean Ltd and received Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) from the PSA in June 2004.
