Gas leak at Mongstad under investigation

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has decided to investigate a gas leak which occurred at the land-based Mongstad plant near Bergen on 25 October 2016.

This incident, which involved the escape of hydrogen-rich gas, occurred in connection with work on a petrol facility at Mongstad, where Statoil is the operator.

The goals of the PSA investigation include clarifying the course of events and identifying the direct and underlying causes in order to contribute to learning and experience transfer.

Its findings will be presented in a report, which will be posted to the ptil.no website.
