Statfjord A fire under scrutiny

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has launched an investigation into the fire which broke out in a utility shaft on the Statfjord A platform during 16 October.

An investigating team is flying out to the North Sea installation on 17 October, and will also support the police in their inquiries into the same incident.

The goals of the PSA examination include clarifying the course of events and identifying the direct and underlying causes in order to contribute to learning and experience transfer.

Its findings will be presented in a report, which will be posted to the ptil.no website.
