Audit of emergency preparedness on Petrojarl 1

During the period 19-21 November 2007, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) conducted an audit of emergency preparedness on board the production facility Petrojarl 1.

Background for the audit
Teekay Petrojarl Production AS (Teekay) owns and operates two mobile production facilities (FPSOs), Petrojarl 1 and Petrojarl Varg, which are involved in activities on the Norwegian shelf.

Petrojarl 1 & Petrojarl Varg

The Petrojarl 1 carries out activities for StatoilHydro on the Glitne field and the Petrojarl Varg carries out activities for Talisman on the Varg field. Both facilities are registered in a national ship's register and Teekay has applied for (AoCs) for the facilities.

The audit was part of the PSA's processing in connection with these applications.

Purpose of the audit
The purpose of the audit was to verify that technical and operational factors within the emergency preparedness discipline on board the Petrojarl 1 are in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Result of the audit
Our general impression subsequent to the audit on this facility is good. Six nonconformities and six improvement items have been identified within organization of emergency preparedness, emergency preparedness equipment and conditions on the helicopter deck.
