Background for the audit
The PSA is to set standards for and follow up to ensure that the players in the petroleum activities maintain high performance levels for health, safety and environment so that the risks of major accidents, undesirable incidents and work-related injuries and illnesses are reduced.
This follow-up must be system-oriented and risk-based, and must come in addition to the industry's own follow-up.
The audit was based on requirements in the Temporary regulations relating to safety and working environment at certain petroleum facilities on land and associated pipeline systems (the Temporary Regulations) and the Regulations relating to systematic health, environment and safety work in enterprises (the Internal Control Regulations / HSE Regulations).
Purpose of the audit
The purpose of the audit was to ensure that the management and follow-up of the technical and operational condition of the facility are safeguarded. Particular attention was given to the system for managing maintenance and inspection, the system for handling nonconformities and exceptions, as well as systems for handling aging equipment and structures.
Result of the audit
The results are based on conversations with selected personnel, with subsequent verification of controlling documents and procedures, as well as programs for performing maintenance at Esso Slagentangen.
No nonconformities were identified during the audit, although we did note a potential for improvement in the area of planning, implementation and follow-up of the maintenance.
