Audit of load-bearing structures on Gyda

We conducted an audit of Talisman's management and handling of technical integrity of load-bearing structures on Gyda in the period 8-9 December 2005. No nonconformities in relation to the regulatory requirements were registered, but we identified potential for improvement in some areas.


GydaThe audit activity was conducted by way of presentations of the management system, conversations and document review.

Background for the audit

The background for the audit is in our prioritization of health, safety and the environment, and our performance measurement that the players facilitate and maintain technical integrity on facilities.

Purpose of the audit

The purpose of the audit was

  • to verify that Talisman has management systems which reduce the risk of structural failure in aging facilities, and that Talisman has qualified solutions for handling technical integrity of load-bearing structures so that the intent of current regulations is satisfied;

  • to verify that these management systems for ensuring the technical integrity of load-bearing structures meet Talisman's requirements for quality assurance, as well as requirements stipulated in the Management Regulations, including process descriptions, quality assurance measures and expertise.

  •  

The task included Talisman's follow-up of supervisory duties vis-à-vis its suppliers.

Result of the audit

Talisman has established a process to ensure the technical integrity of load-bearing structures and procedures for managing this process have been established. No nonconformities in relation to our regulations were identified during this audit activity, but some areas with potential for improvement were revealed.

Areas where potential for improvement was identified are:

  • Clarification of responsibility allocation in the procedure for the integrity of structures
  • Goal setting, strategies and acceptance criteria for improving health, safety and the environment with regard to the integrity of structures
    . Implementation of a standard for maintenance management
  • Updating DFI resumè
  • Improvement of quality assurance system for selected areas
