Audit of site-specific analyses for Port Rigmar

On 21 January 2004, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway conducted an audit of ConocoPhillips' site-specific evaluations linked to the use of the Port Rigmar jack-up rig (see photo) on Ekofisk.

The audit was implemented as a meeting in which Det Norske Veritas first presented the site-specific evaluations in light of applicable regulations, and where the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway asked questions to clarify the situation.

The second part of the audit was dedicated to verification of traceability and quality assurance of the basis for the analysis.

Background for the audit

ConocoPhillips plans to use the Port Rigmar as a temporary living quarters facility on Ekofisk.

Purpose of the audit

The audit was implemented to ensure that the company's evaluations meet regulatory requirements, including the Facilities Regulations and the Activities Regulations.

Result of the audit

Generally speaking, ConocoPhillips' site-specific evaluations meet the requirements in applicable regulations.

Certain conditions were discovered which must be rectified before the Port Rigmar can be used on the Ekofisk field. These conditions are linked to soil surveys, foundation rigidity and capacity of the structural elements that will be overloaded according to the analyses.
