Audit of Talisman - well programmes for completion and well interventions

Audit: The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) conducted an audit of Talisman Energy Norge AS (Talisman) in Stavanger on 6 May 2009. The audit was aimed at the company's work on the well programme for completion and well interventions. We identified no non-conformities in relation to the regulatory requirements.


Background for the audit
Both Storting White Paper No. 12 (2005-2006) and the PSA emphasize the need for increased attention to the work to prevent major accidents.

In this connection we conducted audit activities aimed at the well programmes in order to follow-up how the industry in general and the company's drilling and well management are involved in the work to avoid major accidents.

Purpose of the audit
The purpose of the audit was to conduct a review and assessment of the company's systems, routines and preparation of programmes for completion and well interventions in relation to current regulatory requirements.

Result of the audit
A review of and an assessment of the company's systems, routines and preparation of programmes for completion and well interventions in relation to current regulations was conducted.

We identified no non-conformities in relation to the regulatory requirements. 

During the audit we found improvement items related to the following conditions:

  • Final report after completion of drilling and well activities
  • Overview of non-conformities / exemptions in well programmes
  • Routines/ requirements related to the application of new technology and new methods.
