Audit with site-specific evaluations - Rowan Gorilla VI on Bream

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) conducted an audit of BG Norge AS (BG) on 7 December 2007. The audit was linked to site-specific evaluations of the Rowan Gorilla VI on Bream. Two regulatory non-conformities were found during this audit.

Rowan Drilling has sent in an application for an Acknowledgement of Compliance for the Rowan Gorilla VI (see photo), and BG plans to be the first to use the Rowan Gorilla VI on the Norwegian shelf.

BG is currently working on an application for consent to use the Rowan Gorilla VI on Bream in the Eigersund basin.

Purpose of the audit
The purpose of the audit was to follow up to ensure that the site-specific evaluations of structural safety are planned, managed and carried out in accordance with applicable regulations and recognized norms.

Result of the audit
We have found two non-conformities in relation to regulatory requirements; these are linked to risk acceptance criteria and application of regulations.

We have also identified four improvement items linked to specifications of environmental data, the consent application for the Rowan Gorilla VI, responsibility for specifications and audit plans.
