Baseline study

"The baseline maintenance study" gives guidelines for assessment of the companies' own maintenance management systems. The objective of the project "The baseline maintenance study" is to develop a method for a systematic and comprehensive assessment of the companies' own maintenance management systems. Through this project the NPD also wishes to contribute to a general improvement of the quality of the operators' system for managing safety-related maintenance and provide better predictability for the operators in terms of the NPD's expectations and requirements in this area.

After having assessed their own maintenance management systems according to this method, the companies will have a documented basis for improving their management systems.

What is the study aimed at?

The study brings into focus the quality of the maintenance systems as regards maintaining technical condition and safe operation in the operating phase of installations. The questions in the guidelines concentrate on safety. Individual operators may include other matters, such as economy and production regularity.
