Consent for drilling on Tordis

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has granted Statoil ASA consent for drilling and completion with the mobile installation Borgland Dolphin (photo) on Tordis. The purpose of the activity is to drill and complete the sidetrack 34/7-J-1 AH on Tordis Øst.

The sidetrack will be drilled from slot J-1 (Tordis Extension, subsea template J), which is located about 12 km north of Gullfaks C. The water depth is 201 m.

Borgland Dolphin, which is operated by Dolphin AS, is an Aker H3 rig built in 1976. Dophin AS has previously applied for a (AoC) from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate. The application is being processed by the PSA.

The main purpose of the sidetrack is to be a producer in the Tarbert formation on Tordis Øst. In addition, one goal of the sidetrack is to prove reserves in Slumped Brent sediments in the area.

Planned drilling start-up is mid-March and the activity will have a duration of about 90 days.
