Consent for exploration drilling with Mærsk Giant

Paladin Resources Norway Limited (Paladin) has been granted consent for exploration drilling of well 1/2-2 with the mobile facility Mærsk Giant (photo). The well is situated in the southern North Sea and is part of production license 143CS.

Mærsk Giant is a jack-up mobile drilling installation owned and operated by the A.P. Møller-Mærsk Group. The facility was built in Japan at Hitachi, completed in 1986.

Mærsk Giant can operate in up to 107-meter water depths and can accomodate 87 people. The facility received an (AoC) in February 2002.

Well 1/2-2 is approximately 100 kilometres south-west of Egersund. The water depth on the site is 101 metres.

According to plan, the drilling activity will start at the end of September 2005 and will last 39 days.
