The consent relates to the drilling of two exploration wells, three production wells and maintenance of existing Varg wells.
Mærsk Giant (see photo) is a mobile jack-up drilling facility owned and operated by A.P. Møller-Mærsk Gruppen.
The facility was built at the Hitachi yard in Japan, and commissioned in 1986. Mærsk Giant can operate in waters up to 107 meters deep and can accommodate 87 people.
The facility received an (AoC) in February 2002.
Start-up of the activities is planned for mid-June, with each of the activities lasting about 60 days.
