Consent to carry out exploration drilling with West Epsilon

Statoil ASA (Statoil) has received consent to carry out exploration drilling with the mobile facility West Epsilon in the northern North Sea.

The West Epsilon will drill exploration wells 16/2-3 and 16/2-4. The wells are part of production license 265 and are situated directly south of Balder and Grane (see map).

The planned geographical positions of the two wells are as follows:

  • 16/2-3 N 58° 53' 00.2", E 02° 22' 24.1".
  • 16/2-4 N 58° 52' 21.3", E 02° 23' 24.9".

In its application for consent dated 7 March 2007, Statoil writes that planned start-up of the drilling application will be in May 2007. The activity will have a duration of approx. 70 days, which includes drilling of both wells.

The West Epsilon is a mobile jack-up drilling facility operated by Seadrill Offshore AS, Stavanger. The facility received an (AoC) in February 2003.
